Lang Co Bay- A great stopover between Hue and Danang, Vietnam

Lang Co Bay is renowned for being one of the most stunning natural coastal landscapes in Vietnam. It is also featured one of the most beautiful bays in the world with majestic and alluring beauty. If you are planning to have a trip through central Vietnam, Lang Co Bay is a perfect stop with a combination of mountains, rivers, beaches, and lagoons that will give you unforgettable experiences.

An Overview of Lang Co Bay

Lang Co Bay is located in Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province. It lies between Hue and Danang City, which is more than 60 kilometers from Hue city center and about 25 kilometers away from Da Nang city, right at the foot of the famous Hai Van Pass. I still remember the feeling after driving down the majestic and dangerous Hai Van pass, Lang Co Bay appears in front of my eyes, and I can only scream with joy because it is so fantastic.

The bay is considered “all-in-one-place” with a diverse and rich ecosystem. Lang Co Bay used to be compared with a fairyland by Khai Dinh King for its majestic beauty with white sandy beaches, pure seawater filled with warm sunshine, and extensive tropical forest on rolling mountains.

Lang Co Bay is a great place to visit for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy some peace. There are many activities that visitors can do here, such as swimming, fishing, trekking, and kayaking. Overall, if you’re looking for a serene and picturesque destination in Vietnam, Lang Co Bay is worth paying a visit.

Things to Do in Lang Co Bay, Vietnam

2.1. Relax on the crystal-clear beaches of Lang Co.

Lang Co features a 10-kilometer-long beach with crystal blue sea water and white sand. You can relax on the beach, take a swim or practice water sports like kayaking, surfing or snorkeling. You can also take a boat to row around and enjoy the scenic beauty of the beach. There are several boat tours available that will take you around the bay and show you the different islands, lagoons, and caves.

2.2. Explore Bach Ma National Park.

Bach Ma National Park is one of the famous adventure destinations in Vietnam. It is about 30 kilometers from Lang Co Center. The site is famous for its pleasant climate all year round with thousands of species of plants and creatures.  This is a recommended destination for tourists who are interested in trekking and climbing, as the feeling you reach the peak of Bach Ma Mount and the beauty of nature is fantastic.

2.4. Catch the sunrise on Canh Duong beach.

Canh Duong Beach is a very famous beach in Lang Co Bay. The scenery is stunning, with a calm atmosphere and a few tourists, making it a perfect place for relaxation. Coming there, you should try watching the sunrise gradually appear on the horizon. This moment will bring you not only inner peace but also a lot of amazing photos.

2.5. Visiting Lap An Lagoon.

Lap An Lagoon is located beside Lang Co beach. It is regarded as the fairy hair of the fairyland. The water of the lagoon is blackish, especially in the sunset, it looks like a huge mirror reflecting the sky. The best time to visit the lagoon is at dusk. In my experience, the perfect time is from 4:30 to 5:15, after this period it will quickly get dark.

Visiting the lagoon, besides taking beautiful photos of the scene, you can also go fishing. This lagoon is a special place where oysters grow up in large quantities. So do not forget to see the process of collecting oysters and enjoy some dishes made by this specialty.

2.6. Visiting Elephant Springs.

This famous spring is about 20 kilometers from Lang Co Beach.  It is renowned for having various natural swimming pools with clear and cool water surrounded by several rocks in a variety of sizes and shapes. Among them, there is a giant rock that looks like an elephant which becomes the name of the spring.

When coming there, you can relax and watch the majestic natural scenery with large waterfalls and rich primeval forests. You can also soak and cool off in the water or relax on the flat rocks while sunbathing and listening to the sound of the water flowing down.

What to Eat in Lang Co Bay?

As Lang Co is situated in a big lagoon, it is not surprising that you will find a lot of seafood in this town.

There are two ways if you want to try food in Lang Co Bay. Firstly, if you want to enjoy luxurious meals with amazing beach views, you can book lunch or dinner at local restaurants or resorts. I recommended you try a meal at Thanh Tam seaside resort because it is right on the beach and the seafood here is very fresh and delicious.

On the other way, you can try the local food by going to some fishing villages that are famous for fresh seafood. There are some dishes that you must try when visiting Lang Co Bay

• Steamed crab with lemongrass
• Grilled oysters with cheese
• Sea crab hotpot
• Crab cake soup
• Scallop sauce

You can find plenty of restaurants and street vendors that serve these specialties.

Where to Stay in Lang Co Bay?

Several options for accommodation cater to different budgets and preferences. The most popular one here is probably the “resort” type, as it’s suitable for people who want to relax with complete privacy and silence, with nature surrounding them. In addition, there are also a lot of homestays, hotels, and guesthouses that are suitable for different types of tourists.

As per my previous experience, I would like to recommend you choose a high-quality resort like Lang Co Beach Resort or Thanh Tam Seaside Resort because they are right on the beach and the services are delightful.

How to Get There?

Lang Co Bay is only 60 kilometers from Hue City, so you can take a motorbike or a taxi or rent a private car to get to the place. If you are in Da Nang, the transportation is even easier, that because the bay is only more than 20 kilometers from the city. You can take a bus or ride a motorbike.

For travelers departing from other cities in the country such as Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi city, there are daily flights from these cities to Hue available on many different airlines.

I would like to share with you my unforgettable experience when taking a train to Lang Co Bay. The train from the center of Hue City to Lang Co takes 2 hours and 45 min and the journey is wonderful. I was stunned by the majestic beauty of nature on both sides of the road, so I recommend you take a train to travel to the bay if having a chance as this is a must-try experience when visiting Lang Co Bay.

Best time to visit

According to my experience, the best time to visit Lang Co Bay is summer, from April to July. At this time, the weather is mild and dry, suitable for activities such as swimming, fishing, sightseeing, etc. Other times of the year would be rainy and cold.
